The Scarab Merlin road sweeper is equally at home in municipal, urban or contracting activities, having been designed for mounting on a truck chassis in the 10 - 16 tonne GVW range, giving a potential payload of up to 7800 kg.
The Scarab designed hydrostatic system combines with our CANbus control system means this single engine road sweeper is easy to use, with a constant sweeping speed from zero up to 15-20mph whilst the chassis engine runs at an optimal 1200RPM this ensures long life, low fuel consumption and low emissions whilst still providing powerful suction performance.
CNG Powered Single Engine - Hydrostatic
The single-engine Scarab Merlin mounted onto a CNG chassis satisfies the need to have a street cleansing machine that operates solely on alternative fuel whilst also giving the benefits of reduced fuel costs combined with lower servicing and chassis maintenance costs. The Merlin CNG constitutes an economic, up-to-date and dependable alternative to diesel vehicles, improving both acoustic and gaseous emissions simultaneously.
The hybridization of Scarab's single engine design and CNG power arguably creates the cleanest truck mount sweeper available on the road today.
The Merlin can be fitted to a wide choice of chassis including those from DAF, Iveco, MAN, Mercedes, Volvo, Renault, Hino and UD. For details of these and other suitable chassis specifications, please contact our sales department.
Scarab can justifiably claim to be the champion behind the modern day success of the truck-mounted street sweeper powered from a Single Engine. Operating the whole machine from the engine of the truck chassis provides many advantages:
• Less fuel consumption
• Lower noise
• Lower engine emissions
• Less maintenance & downtime
• Greater payload
• Diesel Free Sweeping (CNG)
A Scarab designed hydrostatic gearbox is installed in the chassis driveline to exactly suit any customers’ chassis and application. Hydrostatic drive, plus a simple joystick control for Forward and Reverse, allows single-pedal control reducing fatigue and enabling the driver to fully concentrate on sweeping.
Scarab’s CANbus control system has revolutionised the way sweepers are operated and maintained.
Intuitive controls and a conveniently positioned colour monitor provide comprehensive levels of feedback to both operating and service personnel.
A graphical display indicates the sweeping configuration and conditions of the vehicle systems including warnings and regular service reminders. Real-time monitoring and datalogging provides valuable assistance in resolving problems and achieving optimum machine performance.
Scarab CANbus includes universal connectors for fitment of Global positioning System (GPS) and the option of real-time data via telematic up-link.
A conveniently positioned colour monitor displays operating information in graphical form and enables the driver and service personnel to scroll through a number of screens to display and adjust vehicle set-up.
